Course Description


This course focuses on advanced fabric configurations and multiprotocol implementations such as FC iSCSI FCIP and FCoE. The class covers Virtual fabrics and SANs Heterogeneous fabrics and migration routing Boot from SAN Native iSCSI and FC security. The course also covers SAN extension implementations including FCIP Port virtualization (NPV\/NPIV) Converged networking and FCoE. The course features hands-on labs where the student will configure each of the covered subjects and harden the environment with various security options.

This is intended to provide a level-set for students who are generally quite familiar with SAN technology but not as familiar with advanced and emerging products and technologies.


At the end of Advanced SAN Implementation training course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify advanced Fibre Channel concepts and requirements for fabric configuration
  • Describe start to end configuration of an integrated fabric
  • List the steps to migrate between a B-Series and a MDS-Series fabric
  • Perform Fibre Channel and iSCSI Boot from SAN
  • Configure Routing in a Fibre Channel environment
  • Identify and configure virtualization features on a Fibre Channel switch
  • Configure FCIP in a Fibre Channel environment
  • Configure a FCOE environment

This course is intended for anyone responsible for setting up advanced SAN configurations such as fabric merger, interoperability, and migration between switch vendors, fabric routing services, SAN Extension with FCIP, iSCSI environments, boot from SAN and FCoE.

The course is also intended for those responsible for integration and design information\/support, implementation procedures or assistance, providing technical support, designing and implementing strategies for ILM, storage tiering, storage technology refreshes, data migration, virtualization, and data replication.
