What is a Virtual Private Cloud? 

A virtual private cloud (VPC) is a private cloud computing platform within a public cloud environment. Take, for example, a café full of people and where a table has been reserved. Only diners who have made a reservation are allowed access to the table. This reserved table functions as a virtual private cloud within the ‘hosted’ (public) cafe. 

While they may sound similar, “private cloud” and “virtual private cloud” are not interchangeable. A single-tenant private cloud is a service that is only available to one company. A private cloud within a public cloud is known as a virtual private cloud.  

A private cloud is powered by specialized infrastructure found on-premises, in a dedicated off-premises data centre, or a managed cloud provider. Control and exclusivity are two advantages of a private cloud. There are no nearby neighbors with whom to share hosted resources.

 

Working of VPC 

A virtual private cloud (VPC) is a hybrid cloud platform that blends the benefits of private and public cloud environments into one. VPCs are virtual private clouds that run on a public or shared infrastructure. 

The public cloud infrastructure provider in a virtual private cloud arrangement is responsible for ensuring that a private cloud customer’s data is kept separate from other customers, both in transit and within the cloud provider’s network. This is accomplished by employing security policies that demand at least some elements. 

VPC allows you to quickly create a virtual network architecture into which AWS instances can be deployed. Each VPC specifies the requirements for your AWS resources, including the below elements.
