Day by day account
A detailed, day in the life account of each day follows:
Day 1 - Background of typical project issues and Agile SCRUM principles.
Day 1 will start with a background of typical project setup and issues. You will learn how Agile SCRUM principles alleviate most these issues.
You will be introduced to the core concepts of Agile SCRUM methodology, the heart of effective evolutionary development.
Day 1 gives a background of SCRUM and its relevance to different project scenarios. It also introduces a realistic business case to fuel the understanding of the key concepts learnt and developed throughout the course. Day 1 itself includes several scenarios where you will become familiar with the nuances of the philosophy. The same business case will be used for the second days of the course.
You will be involved in team exercises to plan and build your product backlog for the business case. We will touch upon different issues and factors that you will face while creating your product backlog. After that you will see how to distill out the most important stories to create your first sprint backlog.
Day 1 will end on this note and there will be feedback taken with respect to the organizational parameters of the workshop.
Day 2 - Sprint walkthrough using the sprint backlog and creating a long lasting process improvement culture.
Day 2 picks up where Day 1 left off: extending the sprint plan into more granular details such that we are able to work out a classic sprint. You will be involved in a typical Planning Game for the sprint. At the end of the planning game you will detail out the stories assigned and carry out the different tasks in each story. You will learn how to communicate minimally but effectively with your team members on your progress and issues. You will get a flavor for what is a typical daily scrum meeting as well during this process.
In the afternoon, you will understand and appreciate the importance of the Sprint Review. You will also be introduced to continuous improvement techniques as part of Sprint Retrospective.
Day 2 will end with future recommendations for each participant with an open house of Q&A.
